This tutorial will guide you through the process of creating a segment in Mailchimp and exporting that segment as a spreadsheet.
To begin, navigate to Audience and then go to Segments.
Ensure that the segment you are looking for does not already exist to avoid duplicates.
In this example, we want to create a segment for all Diageo contacts, which are not listed here.
Click on Create segment at the top of the page.
Next, we will select the filters necessary to create that segment. Since we know that all Diageo subscribers will be using Diageo email addresses, we can apply a filter.
Use the email address contains filter. Select any and enter Diageo. This means any email address containing the word Diageo will be included in this segment.
Click on Use segment and then assign a name to the segment.
Name it subscribers and then save and exit.
You will now see the segment listed. To manage this segment or to export the users, simply click into it.
You might need to refresh the page at this point.
Click into the segment again, and it will list all the contacts that meet the applied filter, specifically those with Diageo in their email addresses.
If this is your first time creating this segment, you can skip this step. However, if you have created this segment in the past, you will want to press rerun segment to refresh the contacts that meet the criteria.
This is particularly important because new subscribers may have joined since you last ran the segment.
After refreshing, you can then click Export segment.
A prompt will appear, at which point you should click Confirm export. The exported information will be sent to you via email in spreadsheet format.
By following these steps, you will successfully create and export your segment in Mailchimp.
